Pan Card Verification

Today, for any financial transaction in the economy, Permanent Account Number (PAN) Card is mandatory. All the transaction above the threshold limit whether it is opening a bank account or purchase gold need to be verified by your PAN card. The Income Tax Department has authorized an NSDL E-Government Infrastructure Limited for launching an online service for PAN verification. Every authorized entity can use this service to verify PAN details using the following three modes:

  • API PAN-based verification- This mode has been created to enable the applicant to verify their Pan Card by using a verification site by taking the help of a software application.
  • File-based verification– Through this mode, the applicant can log in in the account and then upload a file which contains as many as 1000 PANs in the given structure that is mentioned by NSDLe-governance. Only within 24 hours of uploading and submitting this file, the site offers all the necessary PAN details. In case, if the format of the file uploaded by the user is wrong, then a rejection message will be conveyed to the user.
  • Screen-based verification- Under this mode, the user must first login and can furnish a maximum of five PANs that is provided to him on the screen. So, the details of PANs must be submitted and the same is given out as results.

Documents Required for Pan Card Verification

It is necessary for the applicant to submit a signed copy of the terms and conditions on the entity’s letterhead, an authorization letter and also a demand draft for the fees which is charged from him/her for successful renewal. Following are the further documents:

How to Apply for PAN card application form?

STEP 4.

When the payment will be accepted along with the PAN card application form, you are required to send the supporting documents through courier/post to NSDL. The PAN application would be processed by NSDL only after the receipt of the documents.

How to make Changes/corrections in PAN card

In case, if you want to make any changes in the existing PAN card or want to correct any mistake such as the name, date of birth etc then you are free to apply for it online. Almost the procedure will remain the same as applying for new PAN card except in case of corrections in PAN, you also need to submit the documents to support the changes required in PAN.

Following the given below steps for making corrections in your existing PAN card:

STEP 1.

STEP 2.

The fee for making corrections will remain the same i.e Rs. 93 (excluding GST) for Indian communication address and Rs. 864 (excluding GST) for foreign communication address. You can make the payment through either credit/debit card or net banking. Rest the process will be the same.

STEP 3.

As soon as the application and payment are accepted, you have to send the supporting documents through courier/post to NSDL. The PAN application would be processed by NSDL only after the receipt of the documents. Your sent documents would support your changes applied for in PAN.

Following are the documents that shall be accepted as proof in this case:

  1. In the case of Married ladies: Marriage certificate, Marriage invitation card, Publication of “name-change” in the Gazette, a certificate from a gazetted officer stating name change, a copy of passport showing husband’s name.
  2. For other than Married ladies: Its only publication of “name-change” in the Gazette, a certificate from a gazetted officer stating name change.
  3. For companies: ROC’s certificate for the name change is required.
  4. For Partnership firms: Only a copy of a revised Partnership Deed is sufficient.
  5. For other categories which are registered organizations (AOP/Trust/BOI/AJP etc): Revised registration/deed/agreement.
